Abstract

1312557 Circlips ANDERTON SPRINGS Ltd 24 Sept 1971 [19 Feb 1971] 5000/71 Heading F2H An internal oirclip 1 comprises a part-ring shaped body 2 having its ends turned inwardly at shoulders 3 to form legs 5 with parts 6 adjacent their inner ends in abutment and shaped to provide a rolling pivotal contact with one another on curved faces whereby the legs act as levers to facilitate the springing open of the circlip to rest after the application of a closure force. As shown in Fig. 1 the legs 5 are of opposite undulating formation but they may be straight between the shoulders 3 and parts 6, Fig. 3 (not shown), or angular, Fig. 4 (not shown). The circlip 1 provides three stressed working points of re-assertion 8, 9, 9, and is formed of spring steel wire or strip which may be of constant cross-sectional size throughout or the section may be increased in the region 8.
