1,189,275. Endless conveyers. REX CHAINBELT Inc. 14 Nov., 1968 [30 Nov., 1967], No. 54106/68. Heading B8A. In a conveyer chain comprising a series of links 12 with flat upper surfaces 16 and interfitting knuckles 18, 20, and connecting pins 22 extending through the aligned openings 32 of the knuckles of adjacent links, each of which has a central knuckle 18 formed from a flat blank of sheet metal having oppositely extending tongues curled to define pin openings, with the opening of the central knuckle forming the bearing for the pin 22 being enlarged to permit lateral pivotal movement of adjacent links, one surface of the tongue of the central knuckle is provided with cold coined swaged facets 36, 38, before curling which define enlarged portions (40), of the bearing defined in the curled tongue.
