Abstract

1312543 Tennis racket J ROBIN and M GUYOT 8 July 1971 [29 July 1970] 32140/71 Heading A6D [Also in Division B5] A blow-moulded tennis racket frame is formed (see Division B5) from two braided fibre glass tubes 5 impregnated with polymerisable material and enveloped in a third braided tube 6, the tubes 5 having inner sheaths 4 which are inflated while the material is polymerised in a mould 10 so that the tubes join together to form an internal reinforcing rib 7. Tubular cores (not shown) which may be perforated may be removed after polymerisation. The tubular structure is positioned along paths 11, 12 around voids 15 and 16 to form the head and "heart" respectively of the racket. Alternatively or additionally a path 13 (Fig. 6, not shown) which crosses itself between the voids 15, 16 may provide better reinforcement.
