1312246 Jointing by forging VSESOJUZNY NAUCHNO - ISSLEDOVATELSKY INSTITUT ZAVODSKOI TEKHNOLOGII SBORNYKH ZHELOZOBETONNYKH KONSTRUKTSY I ZDELY 31 March 1970 [29 March 1969] 16585/69 Heading B3H [Also in Divisions D1 El and F2] A sleeve 2 of deformable material, initially surrounding a bar 1 with clearance, is heated to the plastic state and then radially compressed by a two part die 3 to anchor the bar, the compressing force being uniform over the compression zone. The sleeve 2 is compressed in one step or the die 3 makes a series of radial compression steps along the sleeve. The sleeve is of a low melting point material. Corrugated reinforcing bars for reinforced concrete, guys, tierods, crimped wire, cables and cable strands are anchored in sleeves which have a threaded end or an articulated eyelet, or the sleeves surround abutting ends of the bars. Also, a reinforcing bar can be connected to a wire rope in this manner.
