Abstract

1312070 Printing process; transfers R D GLOVER 16 Nov 1971 [21 Nov 1970] 55466/70 Heading B6C A method of printing a colour pattern on an open mesh rug canvas wherein a transfer sheet on which the pattern or part thereof has been printed with sublimation type dyestuffs is brought into contact with the canvas on a side which has been treated so as to have a coating of a thermoplastic material which has an affinity for the sublimation type dyestuffs and the transfer sheet is located so that the colour of the dyestuff migrates under the application of heat and colours the canvas. A light source may be used to illuminate the transfer sheet during its placing on the canvas in order to aid registration of design. The thermoplastic canvas coating may be an acrylic co-polymer whilst the dyestuff may be a paste of urea, a thickness thickening paste and the dyestuff itself.
