Abstract

1311652 Boring tools W W GREEN 15 June 1970 [12 May 1969] 24058/69 Heading B3C A boring tool comprises a body 10, Figs. 1, 2, a member 14 screwed into the body and having a frusto-conical surface 15 which co-operates with a ball 23 so as to adjust a cutting bit 22 in the radial direction, and also with balls 24 which guide the tool in the bore being machined. A further diamond-tipped cutting bit 26 is provided, and member 14 has a scale 19 which indicates the radial position of the cutting bits. In a modification, a tool for boring a blind bore comprises a member 29, Fig. 3, having a tapered end 31. In a further modification, the tool bit has a screw cutting edge, and means for retracting the bit is provided. In a still further modification the tool is provided with means for progressively adjusting the axial position of member 14, so that a tapered bore can be machined.
