1311168 Roundabout ANTON SCHWARZKOPF STAHL-UND FAHRZEUGBAU 20 July 1970 [26 June 1970] 35000/70 Heading A6M A roundabout is provided with one or more curved girders 1, which are connected at one end at regular intervals to a central hub 6 rotated by a driving unit 8 about a substantially vertical axis their other upwardly extending ends being connected to a closed stiffening rim 7, for guidance of a trolley 2, on which is mounted a rotatable frame 3 carrying passenger cabins 4 or the like and a motor for rotation of the frame, in such a manner that the trolley moves from a substantially horizontal plane of rotation to a substantially vertical plane of rotation. The frames 3 may consist of outwardly extending curved stirrups, the inner ends of which may be secured radially to a hub mounted on the trolley 2, passenger cabins which may be of streamlined construction simulating space craft, being pivotally suspended from the outer ends e.g. by a ball and socket joint or a universal joint connected to a pin mounted about a vertical axis. Methods of driving the trolley (cf Figs. 5 and 6) along the curved girder are described and claimed. The construction of the girders, and methods of assembling and dismantling of the spherical 5 structure about the telescopic columns 48 are described.
