Abstract
1310128 Rotary piston machines AUDI NSU AUTO UNION A G and WANKEL GmbH 1 June 1970 [31 May 1969] 26252/70 Heading F1F The housing of a rotary piston machine, e. g. an I.C. engine, comprises an annular peripheral wall and two end walls each having passages therein for cooling fluid, the passages in the peripheral wall being axially directed and connected via the end wall passages so that the flow of coolant in adjacent peripheral wall passages is in opposite directions, each passage being individually sealed by sealing rings at the interfaces between the wall members. As described, the I. C. engine has two units connected by an intermediate wall. Coolant from a heat exchanger first flows through a passage adjacent the ignition plugs, then through a passage adjacent the expansion region, and finally through a passage around the exhaust port, before being returned to the heat exchanger, via passages in one end wall and the intermediate wall.
