Abstract

1309598 Variable speed gearing, clutches IKARUS KAROSSZERIA ES JARMUGYAR 21 April 1970 [23 April 1969] 19097/70 Headings F2C and F2D A gear transmission having four forward and one reverse ratio comprises only two planetary trains 2 ... 5, 6 ... 10 each consisting of a carrier 3, 8 for a planet gear 4, 9 meshing with both a sun gear 2, 10 and a ring gear 5, 6, the power input 1 is connected to the sun gear 2 and the output 7 to the carrier 8, the ring gear 6 and the carrier 3 have a common brake 11, 12 and the ring gear 5 can be connected to the sun gear 10 by a clutch 19. The transmission may have other brakes 13 ... 16 and clutches 17, 18 (e.g. overrunning clutches) selectively engageable for the forward ratios, actuation of the brakes 11, 12 and clutch 19 being together to provide reverse. The clutch 19 may be a dog clutch and the clutches 17, 18 as shown in Fig. 2. The clutch shown in Fig. 2 interconnects input and output elements 21, 23 by a grooved sleeve 25 connecting toothed flanges 23, 24, 28 on the elements 21, 23 and an intermediate element 26. The latter is connected by loose splines to a boss on the flange 23 and is resiliently biased to lag the flange. The element 26 has on a boss thereof ratchet teeth housing rollers 29 within a recess in the flange 24. The arrangement acts as a free wheel allowing the element 21 to overrun the element 22, but on torque reversal, the rollers jam, the teeth on the flanges 23, 28 align allowing the sleeve 25 to move to the right.
