130,958. Merritt, A. A., and Getler, J. F. Aug. 3, 1918, [Convention date]. Sewing - machines ; presser-feet.-Single or duplex presser-feet are proviued with arched spring soleplates which yie.d to irregularities in the work. The invention is shown applied to the duplex presserfoot used in the machine described in Specifications 6036/12 and 6037/12 for making the seam described in Specification 14917/06. The sole-plate 70, Fig. 4, is secured by a screw 72 at the front, and is loosely retained bv a hools portion 73 at the back. The sole-plates being pivoted about the screws 62, 72 are free to separate as shown in Fig. 6 to accommodate the upstanding edges of thick seams. A simple wire loop forms a stop to limit this movement.
