Abstract

1309464 Polypeptides SOC FARMACEUTICI ITALIA 30 June 1970 [1 Aug 1969 24 April 1970] 31512/70 Heading C2C Peptides of the general formula wherein X is Thr-, Met-, Val-, Phe-, Nle-, Abu-, Trp-, Tyr- or Gly-; Y is Nle- or Met- (except, if X is Thr-, Met- or Gly- Y is Met-); R is Phe(SO 3 B) and B is H, or a protected derivative thereof, or X is Thr-, Val-, Phe-, Nle-, Abu-, Trp-, Tyr- or Gly- Y is Nle- or Met-; R is Phe(SO 3 B), 3-(4-hydroxy-phenyl) propionyl O-sulphate or 4-hydroxy-cinnamyl O-sulphate and B is H, an alk or alkaline earth metal or an organic base or a protected derivative thereof are prepared by known methods for producing peptides from amino acids or smaller peptides. The following intermediates are prepared:- L - 4 - sulpho - phenylalanine (p - Phe(SO 3 H)), BOC - p - Phe(SO 3 Na) and BOC - p - Phe(SO 3 H) bis - dicyclohexyl - ammonium salt; H and BOC - Abu - Gly - Trp - Nle - Asp - Phe - NH 2 - H- and BOC - Thr - Gly - Trp - Nle - Asp- Phe - NH 2 ; N - hydroxysuccinimide 3 - (4- hydroxyphenyl) - propionate and 3 - (4 - hydroxyphenyl)propionyl - Abu - Gly - Trp - Nle- Asp - Phe - NH 2 ; N - hydroxysuccinimide p - hydroxy cinnamate and # - hydroxycinnamyl- Abu - Gly - Trp - Nle - Asp - Phe - NH 2 . Pharmaceutical compositions showing high biological activity comprise the peptides (I) and a carrier therefor.
