1309260 Bis - (beta - halo - beta - arylalkyl)- disulphides UNIROYAL Inc 13 March 1970 [17 March 1969 24 Feb 1970] 37413/72 Divided out of 1309259 Heading C2C The invention comprises bis-(beta-halo-betaarylalkyl)disulphides of the general formula wherein Hal is a chlorine or bromine atom, Ar is a carbocyclic aryl group which may be substituted, R<SP>1</SP> is a hydrogen atom, a methyl group, or a -CH- or -CH 2 CH 2 - group which is also joined ortho to the Ar group, and R is a hydrogen atom or an alkyl group having from 1 to 4 carbon atoms. They may be prepared by reacting a sulphur monohalide with a betaarylolefin diluted with at least an equal volume of an inert solvent, at below 45‹ C.
