1309073 Ironing presses WESTON LAUNDRY MACHINE CO Ltd 17 March 1970 [18 March 1969] 14271/69 Heading D1A [Also in Division F4] A buck, on which a garment including synthetic material is hung, clamped in position, filled out, has hot air and/or steam blown through it to relax the material and is dried, comprises a body with a base 23 having rollers and adapted to be mounted in a press, a pivotally mounted outwardly movable arm 14 on each side of the body with a latch 56 and clamps 34, 36 and 38. Pivoted arms for the sleeves of a garment may be provided although they are not shown. Each arm 14 is held by a latch 56 to a lever (20 which is pivotable about its lower end, to stretch a garment, by links (32) connected to a pneumatic or hydraulic ram (34) as in Fig. 4B. The latch 56 is released when a long garment such as a dress, as in Fig. 4A, is being stretched, permitting the arm 14 to pivot about the lever (20). In use a garment is clamped on the buck by clamping plates (36) (38). The buck is rolled into the press and the pneumatic or hydraulic connections made and hot air and/or steam connections (61, 62) made with the neck 32 of the buck. Steam with or without hot air is blown through the body and arms of the buck which are hollow and made of perforated sheet stainless steel and then hot air alone is supplied to dry the garment. A deflector (39) is provided to deflect the gases back towards the top of the buck.
