1308632 Pneumatic conveyers; feeding webs COMPAGNIE DE SAINT-GOBAIN 29 May 1970 [29 May 1969] 26022/70 Headings B8A and B8R [Also in Division C1] Apparatus for conveying sheet or strip material, e.g. glass or plastics at its temperature of plastic deformation on a gaseous cushion comprises a series of nozzle bodies 1 in whose upper surfaces are gas emission slots 17, 18, and which define gas removal slots 31 therebetween, the slots 17, 18, 31, extending transversely of the direction of movement of the sheet of material. The emission slots 17, 18 are formed in each side of a bar 3 which slides in a slot in the upper part of a nozzle body 1 and communicate through passages (4(a)-4(c)), Fig. 4 (not shown), with gas under pressure in a chamber 5 connected via an orifice 1d which extends through perforations 39 in the top 36 of a gas reservoir. The gas removal slots 31 are formed by the separation between the flanges 13, 13a of adjacent bodies 1, the gas flowing through those slots into chambers 30 defined by the adjacent flanges 13, 14 of nozzle bodies which communicate with tubes 41a extending through perforations 40 in the reservoir top 36 through which gas is removed to a space (65), Fig. 13 (not shown), underneath the bottom 42 of the gas reservoir. - Reference has been directed by the Comptroller to Specification 1,216,123.
