Abstract
1308539 Charging liquefied gas containers PARKER-HANNIFIN CORP 11 June 1970 [25 July 1969] 28288/70 Heading F4P [Also in Division F1] A liquid oxygen container 54 is charged from portable containers 25, 26 maintained at relatively high and low temperature whereby liquid is forced from the warm container 25 through a line 28 to fill the cold container; the liquid delivery line 19, 36 of said containers lead to a mixing valve 39 and to a common delivery line 43 leading to a service connection 56 of container 54. The temperature of the oxygen in line 37 is thus intermediate that in lines 19, 36 and the temperature of container 26 is reduced by placing it in thermal contact with a liquid nitrogen container 29 from which the container 25 is insulated. The temperature of container 25 is maintained high enough to provide adequate gas pressure therein by vaporizing a portion of liquid oxygen in a heat exchanger 30. The containers 25, 26 are themselves charged by connection at 6 to a supply main.
