1308424 Adjustable beds JOH STIEGELMEYER & CO GmbH 19 May 1971 [7 Oct 1970] 15709/71 Addition to 1233521 Heading A4J [Also in Division H5] An adjustable bed has a back rest 20 and a two part leg-rest 47 pivotally connected to a bed frame 16 rigidly connected to an intermediate frame 13 pivotally connected to two rigidly interconnected universal mountings 9 which allow for the bed frame to be adjusted vertically, about a longitudinal axis and about a transverse axis, each mounting being connected to one end of a hydraulically controlled linear actuator 7, 4; the other end of which is mounted on a chassis 2. Movement of the bed frame about the longitudinal axis and pivoting of the back rest 20 and leg-rest 47 are transmitted on rotation of hand cranks mounted at the foot end of the bed by drives (67, 35, 49) Figs. 14, 17 and 20 respectively (not shown). Rails 22, 23, 24 are mounted on the sides and ends of the bed frame 16 and backrest 20, these rails supporting detachable appliances such as head and foot boards Fig. 24 (not shown) the inclination of which may be varied, a telescopic support Fig. 25 (not shown) for supporting the backrest in a horizontal position, an X-ray cassette Fig. 27 (not shown) and occupant retaining side rails (103) Fig.30 (not shown).
