Abstract
1307947 Braking systems; disc brakes DR ING hcF PORSCHE KG 22 Nov 1971 [21 Nov 1970] 54087/71 Headings F2F and F2E A dual circuit braking system includes a disc brake 5 having a brake caliper 7 in which are mounted one at each side of the disc 26 brake lining carriers 28. Each carrier 28 is acted on by two pistons 9, 9<SP>1</SP> each fed from a different braking circuit through a common thrust element 30. Each piston 9, 9<SP>1</SP> is provided with a wear adjustment device which is able to absorb brake reaction pressure present at the thrust element when a pressure loss in one of the circuits occurs. In the construction shown the wear adjustment devices each comprise a stack of alternate stepped washers 19 and plate springs 20, fingers of the plate springs gripping a stud 14 fixed in the caliper. The amount of movement from the rest position of the fingers to their engagement with the co-operating stepped washer giving the normal clearance of the brake. The thrust element comprises a beam 30, there being two knife edge pivots between the beam and carrier 28, one being formed on the beam and the other on the carrier.
