The Specification describes a lamp failure alarm system for a motor vehicle comprising side lights S 1 , S 2 , tail lights T 1 , T 2 and brake lights B 1 , B 2 connected as a balanced circuit to windings of a differential relay C. A resistor R is included to balance the single number plate lamp N. Windings W may be coreless and contain a dry reed contact unit M. A warning lamp D or audible alarm is operated by closure of contacts M in the event of failure of any lamp.
