Abstract
1282622 Electromagnetic relays PRESSAC Ltd 20 Jan 1970 3259/69 Heading H1N [Also in Division G4] In a lamp failure alarm, the lighting load is divided into two halves 1, 2, the current through each half being passed through respective windings 4, 5 of a differential relay, an adjustable magnet 8 being provided so that the contacts 6 of a reed switch are in their normal state when all the lamps are operative. The fields of windings 4, 5 become unbalanced in the event of failure of one lamp, so that reed contacts 6 become closed, operating indicator lamp 7. A holding winding 18 may be included so that a further failure of a lamp of the other group does not restore the balance. Relay construction.-Fig. 2 shows a pair of reed contacts interposed between two windings of a differential relay which includes a bar magnet 8 mounted in a rotatable cover 9 which is a snap-fit on body 10. A switch 19 (Fig. 1) in the holding circuit is opened during the adjustment of magnet 8 so that the relay contacts remain open despite slight unbalance in the current in the two differential windings. The cover 9 may have a calibrated scale (Fig. 3, not shown).
