Abstract

1306297 Hydraulic presses VEREINIGTE OSTERREICHISCHE EISEN-UND STAHLWERKE AG 9 April 1970 16862/70 Heading B5F [Also in Division B3] In a press brake, flanging press or shearing machine two hydraulic actuators 1, 2 acting on a tool or workpiece are supplied with hydraulic fluid simultaneously during the working and return strokes and are connected to a common pressure comparing valve 23 which has two pressure inlets 21, 22 and an outlet 26 to an oil pump 27 via a shut-off valve 28 which opens only when the working stroke has been completed. This control prevents any damage to the press tools due to pressure surges and any uncontrolled movement of the tool e.g. the bending beam, as a result of any unilateral loading of the press during its reversal. A pump 10 driven by a motor 9 supplies pressure fluid to the actuators via a main three-position control valve 13 and a flow control valve 16. The electric control circuit ensures that the main valve 13 is not moved to another position until the pressures in the actuators have been equalized. A pressure relief valve 29 controls the working pressure of the hydraulic fluid.
