1306178 Television STANDARD TELEPHONES & CABLES Ltd 24 June 1971 29578/71 Heading H4F An arrangement for image enhancement of a television camera output in low-light conditions provides a one-frame delay for the camera video output so that the delayed and undelayed signals may be added to effectively decrease the scanning rate, at the expense of reduced moving- picture resolution. The Specification describes a feed-back loop arrangement in which an attenuator in the feedback path successively reduces the effect of the signals of one frame on the following frame outputs, and also a multiple arrangement as in Fig. 4 in which eight magnetic drum tracks provide four one-frame delays (each pair of tracks such as aj, bk adding to a one revolution delay) thus enabling the integration at 43 of four camera frames. The drum rotation is effected by a synchronous motor system controlled by the master oscillator used for scan timing.
