Abstract
1304492 Electronic musical instruments PHILIPS ELECTRONIC & ASSOCIATED INDUSTRIES Ltd 17 Sept 1971 [22 Sept 1970] 43398/71 Heading G5J A vibrato signal which varies in frequency in an aperiodic manner is produced by connecting inputs of different frequencies to an AND-gate the output thereof being connected through a frequency divider to vary the frequency of a tone generator. The instrument has 12 tone generators G 1 -G 12 , Fig. 1, feeding divider chains D 1 -D 12 to produce successive octaves. Zone signals of 1000-2000 Hz taken from dividers D 1 -D 2 are shaped at I 1 -I 12 and fed to the inputs of AND-gates P 1 -P 4 . The gate outputs, which consist of pulses of continuously varying width spaced by continuously varying intervals, are frequency divided at B 1 -B 4 , smoothed by low-pass filters F 1 -F 4 and fedback to vary the pitch of the tone generators. Gates P 1 -P 4 , dividers B 1 -B 4 and filters F 1 -F 4 may be replaced by a single gate, divider and filter, Fig. 2 (not shown).
