1304462 Coin freed amusement machines BAR FOOTBALL Ltd 1 Sept 1971 [15 Sept 1970] 43905/70 Heading G4V [Also in Division A6] An amusement machine comprises a reservoir 6, 7 housing a plurality of balls, means for delivering balls, one at a time, from the reservoir into play, coin-freed release means for controlling passage of balls to the delivery means, and yieldable resilient spring means 21 located in the path of balls being advanced through said reservoir toward a point of delivery into play and functioning as non- return control means for the balls. In the embodiment described the machine comprises a football table (Fig. 1, not shown) with a playing surface (2), dummy figures mounted on rotatable and slidable transverse rods (4) and a glass cover (3). At the start of a game balls that have entered the goals during the previous game are held in tubes 10, 11 by wire loop stops 29, and the upright limb 7 of an L-shaped tube opening on to the playing surface 2 is also full of balls. On the insertion of coinage rod 24 is freed for sliding movement, withdrawing stops 29 from the tubes 10, 11 and allowing the balls held therein to pass into a tube 13 that communicates with the horizontal limb 6 of the L-shaped tube. A pusher 14 is operable by a lever 22 external of the machine to push a ball, received in the limb 6 from the tube 13, past a resilient ring 21 (see also Fig. 4, not shown) and hence deliver a ball on to the playing surface from the end of the limb 7. When the rod 24 is operated to withdraw the stops 29 from the tubes 10, 11 the free ends of the wire enters the tubes at apertures 30 to hold up balls received through the goal openings of the playing surface until the next play of the machine.
