Abstract
1303654 Power distribution devices PIRELLI GENERAL CABLE WORKS Ltd 2 March 1970 [13 March 1969 19 July 1969] 13213/69 and 36429/69 Headings H2E and H2H A power distribution device comprises a number of bus-bars 10 for connection to respective phase conductors 7 of a main power supply cable 8, the bus-bars extending into a moulded body of solid insulation 2 and connectors 12 each connected within the insulation to a respective bus-bar. The device is connected to the conductors 7 by bolted terminal joints 9 enclosed within cast iron or galvanized steel sleeves 6 which may be filled with a bituminous or resinous compound. The bus-bars 10 are made of aluminium or copper to which the connectors 12 are welded, brazed or compressed. The connectors 12 are joined to sockets 13 embedded in a portion 2a of the insulation, the sockets being adapted to receive a plug attached to a consumer service cable. A galvanized metal protection shield 11 extends over the portion 2a of the insulation which comprises a hard-setting resin. Instead of using the sockets 13, the ends of a service cable may be connected to the device by a terminal block and grub-screw provided at the end of each connector 12. Three way and four way distribution devices as well as a device for use at the end of a cable are also described.
