Abstract

1303328 Valves KOEHRING CO 22 April 1970 [3 Nov 1969] 19313/70 Heading F2V A control valve comprises a body having inlet passages 11, 12, an outlet passage 35, service passages 8, 9 and a valve chamber 6 with which the passages communicate at zones spaced from one another, a valve element 7 to control communication of the service passages with the inlet and outlet passages, and duct means 15, 40, 26, 27 communicating with the chamber for conducting to the outlet passage in by-pass relation to a service passage leakage fluid from the inlet passages when the valve element is in neutral position. In the embodiment of Fig. 1, the sliding spool valve comprises a valve body 5 having common pressure inlet passages 11, 12, two service passages 8, 9 and commoned exhaust passages 21, 22. In neutral position as shown, a pressure bridge passage 25 having the branches 26, 27 which intersect the valve chamber intermediate the inlets 11, 12 and the service passages 8, 9, is exhausted to the outlet passage 35 through a recess 15 in the spool between lands 42, 36. Pressure fluid is thereby prevented from reaching the service ports by any leakage path and unwanted operation of a motor connected to these ports is avoided. In another embodiment, Fig. 2 (not shown), the valve is symmetrical about a central inlet passage (56). Two bridge transfer passages (76, 77) outwardly of a pressure bridge passage (24) are connected in neutral position with exhaust bridge passages (21, 22) through recesses (45, 49) in the spool with the same result that pressure fluid is prevented from leaking to the service ports.
