H MORTON and T R CROMPTON 25 May 1971 [9 June 1970] 27925/70 Heading H1B In an electric battery comprising a plurality of cells 1, each having a box 3 and lid 2 of non- inflammable insulating material e.g., neoprene, with ports 5 of adjacent cells 1 being interconnected by cables 6, each port 5 has a rubber seal 4 and each cable end 12 is enclosed in a fluid-tight insulating sleeve 7 sealing the port to the lid. Each sleeve 7 has a bead 10 clamped between a lid flange 9 and a non- conducting nut 11. Each cable end 12 is secured to a copper plated tube which is cast in the port 5.
