Abstract

1302641 Sound insulation ATLAS COPCO AB 10 June 1971 19940/71 Heading F2X A silencing hood for a stationary, air-cooled machine having a cooling fan, e.g. an air-cooled compressor, comprises a plastics shell lined with a sound absorbing material and provided with cooling air inlet and outlet openings between which cooling air can flow through the hood, and which are as disposed as to be capable of being used as inspection ports, the outlet opening being so disposed that the hood is positionable on the machine with the outlet opening adjacent the hot air discharge from the fan. The shell may be formed of glass fibre reinforced synthetic plastics material, e.g. a polyester resin, and the lining of foamed polyurethane. This lining is attached to the shell by being integrated with its inner surface, as by pressing the lining against the inner surface of the shell before the plastics material of the shell has set.
