Abstract
1302297 Recovering bacitracin CHINOIN GYOGYSZER ES VEGYESZETI TERMEKEK GYARA RT 19 March 1970 13281/70 Heading C2A Bacitracin is recovered from its aqueous solutions such as filtered fermentation broths by adding a water-soluble salt of a naphthalene sulphonic acid-formaldehydre condensate to the solution at pH 2 to 9 to precipitate a complex of bacitracin and the said condensate, with the proviso that if the pH is 5À5 to 9 the precipitation is carried out in the presence of a salt of a divalent metal. The naphthalene sulphonic acid-formaldehyde condensate salt is preferably that of an alkali metal, the condensate consisting of about 2 to 9 monomer units. The preferred divalent metal salt is zinc sulphate. The divalent metal salt may also be employed when the bacitracin solution is below pH 5À5 provided that the reaction mixture is subsequently brought to above pH 5À5 e.g. with NaOH. The precipitated complex is filtered off and dried and may be used as such as an antibiotically active additive in animal feed-stuffs. The novel bacitracin complex with a naphthalene sulphonic acid-formaldehyde condensate prepared as above contains about 40% of bacitracin.
