Abstract

1302186 Bricklayers' tool D PREISKEL 12 June 1970 [18 June 1969] 30935/69 Heading E1S A bricklayers' tool comprises a framework supporting a pair of side plates, eg. 110, 111, which are clamped against the side of an existing brick course and define the required depth of mortar thereupon. A blade 16, which is preferably adjustable and interchangeable, is attached to each plate bearing against a brick face which requires pointing, so that when the tool is moved along a wall, the pointing is done automatically. The blades may be spring loaded away from a rigid frame (Figs. 1, 3) or alternatively may be fixed to frame members 101-104, (Fig. 9) which are interconnected via tubular members 105, 106 within which are springs attached to the members 101-104. A modified tool having four parallel plates may be constructed for cavity walls, (Fig. 6, not shown), and other devices may be attached to the tool, e.g. spirit level, a skirt for vertical pointing, a cavity cover, and a 'vertical' gauge.
