Abstract
1301982 Unsaturated phosphonothioates SHELL INTERNATIONALE RESEARCH MAATSCHAPPIJ NV 23 Feb 1971 5187/71 Heading C2P Novel compounds of the formula wherein R 1 , and R 2 are each alkyl and X is an optionally halogenated phenyl group, are obtained by reacting a ketone XC(O)CH 2 Hal wherein Hal is halogen with a base and an alkyl phosphinothioate of the formula The reaction is preferably carried out in an organic solvent e.g. ethanol or tetrahydrofuran and bases specifically mentioned are ammonia and sodium hydride. The products have pesticidal properties and may be used in admixture with a solid or fluid carrier and/or surface active agent to form conventional pesticidal compositions which may also contain protective colloids, thixotropic agents, stabilizers, stickers, other pesticides, herbicides, or fertilizers, e.g. superphosphates. Reference has been directed by the Comptroller to Specification 1,185,112.
