Abstract

1301759 Feedingsheets TOKYO SHIBAURA ELECTRIC CO Ltd 7 April 1971 9007/71 Heading B8R A sheet S 1 is separated from a pile by a rotating suction head 40, carried on a rotating member 27, and deposited on a conveyer 72 provided with suction means 71. To prevent an underlying sheet S 2 being simultaneously separated from the on-edge pile, member 60 rotating as shown, Fig. 4c, follows the head 40 and pulls back the underlying sheet. Upon release of sheet S 1 the member 60 and a further rotary member 61 serve to press the sheet into contact with conveyer 72. The pile is continuously urged towards the separator by means of a weight against the action of retaining spring 16a. The member 60 is rotated, prior to engagement with the pile, by a friction strip 80 or by a conveyer belt (90, Fig. 5, not shown). Means sensitive to the pressure at the suction head, microswitch means, or photo-electric means may be promoted to detect failure of the suction head to separate a sheet. As a result of this detection the speed of rotation of member 27 is reduced.
