Abstract
1300972 Accelerators for unpowered toy vehicles FALLER GmbH FABRIK FEINER MODELLSPIELWAREN GEB 4 Feb 1970 [4 Feb 1969] 5247/70 Heading A6S Devices for accelerating unpowered model vehicles comprise a trigger mechanism which holds a thrust device in a "cocked" position in a track for the said vehicles, said track having an exit end by which the device is connected to a continuation track. In the "cocked" position a spring attached to the thrust device is stretched so that on release of the trigger, the thrust mechanism is drawn along the track by the contracting spring and thus accelerates the vehicle. In an embodiment of the invention (Fig. 3) the thrust device 17 has a stem 18 which can run in guide 13 and which has a plate 19 attached to it whereby the thrust element is held captive in the guide 13, and the thrust device 17 may also have a facing 20 of rubber material and is retained in the cocked position by trigger mechanism 22. The spring element 28, in the form of a rubber band is attached to a plate 19, which is in turn attached to thrust element 17, by means of a pin 26. The rubber band 28 passes around a guide at a point in front of the thrust device, and is then secured to a side wall beneath the track at a point between the guide and the thrust device 17. On release of the trigger mechanism 22 the thrust device is caused to travel along the track by the relaxation of tension in the rubber band 28. The direction of travel is governed by the fact that the thrust device is set in a longitudinal slot in the surface of the track and the distance travelled by the thrust unit, and hence the acceleration imparted to the toy vehicle 40, is controlled by means of an adjustable stop which is fitted into the said guide slot. Several embodiments of the invention are described including these in which the acceleration is imparted while the toy vehicle travels on a track in the form of a vertical loop, the thrust unit being in the form of a spring loaded arm.
