Abstract

1300723 Transverse rolling KOMBINAT UMFORMTECHNIK VEB 25 Feb 1970 9156/70 Heading B3M To form a rotationally symmetrical elongated workpiece from a blank of square or quadrangular cross section, the blank is rolled in a transverse rolling machine to a circular crosssection before being rolled to its final crosssection. The machine includes a pair of tools A between which a workpiece is rolled, the tools being associated with rolls or jaws. Each tool has transverse undulations which co-operate with the edges of the blank. A wedge C may be provided on each tool in order to modify the size of the circular cross-section produced. Spot welds or half-round rivet heads may be provided on the tools to assist in gripping a blank during rolling.
