130,059. Raworth, J. E., (Pressed Metals, Ltd.). Jan. 10, 1918. Billet-piercing; dies. - Billets of uniform material for tubular metal articles are made from billets of heated cast metal which are subjected to a uniform pressure in a confined space, and the surplus metal is extruded by co-operating punches. The billet 1 is slightly tapered, has a bevelled bottom 3, and is arranged in a die with a perforated bushing 4 at the bottom. The punch 5 first descends, and then the punch 7, causing the billet to fill the recess 2 completely, the surplus metal being extruded through the bushing.
