1299868 Formaldehyde-modified polyethylene glycol AGFA-GEVAERT AG 10 March 1970 [2 April 1969] 17162/69 Heading C3R [Also in Division G2] A polycondensation product containing oxyethylene units is prepared by boiling a solution of polyethylene glycol (average molecular weight 1000), paraformaldehyde and concentrated sulphuric acid in toluene for 2 days, adding further toluene, filtering and distilling off toluene under reduced pressure. The residue was dissolved in chloroform, filtered and the chloroform evaporated, the remaining polymer powder being washed with ether.
