Abstract
1299630 Compost activator RUMENCO Ltd 8 Oct 1971 [10 Oct 1970] 48247/70 Heading C1B A compost activator, in the form of freeflowing discrete particles, comprises a mixture of relatively dry, fibrous vegetable matter with molasses and at least one nitrogenous substance which can be used by mushrooms as a source of nitrogen. The fibrous vegetable matter may be dried peat moss, dried spent hops, bagasse, and/or glume meal, and the nitrogenous substance may be urea, an ammonium salt, blood meal, casein and/or dried yeast. Residue from the fermentation / distillation of sugar - cane molasses also may be present. The activator finds application in activating composts derived from stable bedding, deep litter (chicken) and/or wheat straw, e.g. such as used in mushroom cultivation.
