Abstract

1299391 Rolled sheet dispensers P ASCHBACHER 27 Feb 1970 [27 Feb 1969] 9589/70 Heading A4G [Also in Division B4] Apparatus for dispensing and cutting sheet from roll 13 on holder 16 has the sheet 13<SP>1</SP> passing between a surface 26 and a rip friction roller 12 and advanced to withdrawal opening 2 by a ratchet arm 5 pivoted at 10 to a cover 4 pivoted at 3, and with pinion 11<SP>11</SP> to rotate roller 12 when the cover is pushed inwards, a pusher element 19 hinged to the cover pressing the sheet on a resilient or foam rubber pad 21 until it is severed by serrated teeth on cutter 23. Towards the end of the ratchet movement, rod 7 acts on roller 25 and lifts the ratchet off pinion 11<SP>11</SP> until cam 6 abuts rod 24. On releasing the cover, sprung plunger 15 moves cover 4 outwards, the rack being disengaged from pinion 11<SP>11</SP>, and cam 6 acting on rod 24 together with over-center spring 8, returning rack 5 to its initial position. The unidirectional motion of roller 12 may be produced by rack teeth 5<SP>1</SP> slipping over pinion 11<SP>11</SP> on the outward movement or by a unidirectional spring clutch incorporated in a pinion. The holder 16 comprises a hollow cylinder with longitudinal outwardly bowed leafsprings on its surface, a fixed spigot at one end and a spigot pressed through a cap apeture at the other end by an internal spring. The amount of tape dispensed may be variable by an interchangeable gearing or by continual partial inward pushing of the cover. A tooth on cutter 23 may be blunt so that the strips must be torn off by hand.
