Radio - active substances, instruments for observing effect of. -A power-generator comprises a receptacle for radio-active material, and means to convey a medium, capable of expansion by heat, such as air, over the material, and thence to a motor. The motor may be a vane wheel or turbine. A clock may thus be driven. In a scientific toy, a vane-wheel 1 may be driven by the current of air &c. due to the heating-effect of a radio-active substance in a capsule 4 at the bottom of a tangential chimney 5, 6.
