1298495 Explosive compositions EXPLOSIVES & CHEMICAL PRODUCTS Ltd 5 July 1971 [13 July 1970] 33973/70 Heading C1D A gelatinous blasting explosive comprises ammonium nitrate; more than 10% of a non-high explosive mono- or di-nitro aromatic compound as a principal sensitizer for the ammonium nitrate; water; a hydrophilic gelling agent and a cross-linking agent; and as an ancillary sensitizer, discrete particles of foamed synthetic plastics material. The aromatic compound may be dinitrotoluene, dinitrobenzene, mononitrobenzene, or mononitrotolueno, the gelling agent guar gum, the cross-linking agent borax, and the ancillary sensitizer spherical granules of foamed styrene polymer or copolymer. Sodium nitrate may be present with the ammonium nitrate.
