Abstract

1297238 Arc rupturing in switches R S KUZNETSOV A G USKACH and V G KOSTIKOV 7 Feb 1970 5984/70 Heading H1N An arc quenching chamber comprises joined pairs of metal plates 1 having a neck 8, links 2, 3, and parts 4, 5 in the form of an unclosed loop lying in parallel planes. Insulating barriers 6 are placed between the annular parts 4, 5. The plates, preferably of a ferromagnetic material, have a dovetail notch 10 in their lower part. In Fig. 5 (not shown) the start and finish of the bent portion 4 overlap whilst in Fig. 9 (not shown) the air gap 9 is offset relative to that of Fig. 1. In Fig. 10 (not shown), the plates of Figs. 1 and 9 are used alternately. In Fig. 7, the loops of the parts 4, 5 extend in opposite directions.
