Abstract
1297227 Two-part couplings AMP Inc 27 July 1971 [5 Sept 1970] 35080/71 Heading H2E A connector housing comprises an insulating box 2 for receiving a contact, an aperture (16) in the floor (15) of the box and at least one pair of feet 28, 29 rigidly secured to the housing and projecting below the floor, the feet of the or each pair being spaced apart and projecting away from each other with one foot 28 being longer than the other foot 29. The box is generally rectangular of resilient material and has a lid 3 integrally hinged at 4 with apertures 6 for engaging latches 5. Six contacts (11, Fig. 2, not shown, and described in Specification 1,289,260) mutually separated by housing wall portions (19), are housed in the box, engaging shoulders therein, and each has a contact part (14) adjacent a respective aperture (16) in the floor. Each side of the housing has a pair of legs 22, 23, joined by a bridge portion 24 with the legs 23 integrally joined to the lid by a projection 25, and a projection 26 formed with a detent 27. The feet 28, 29 on legs 22, 23 respectively have surfaces 30, 31 facing the floor, the feet 29 having a bearing surface 32. In use, the connector is releasably secured to a printed circuit board (18, Fig. 3, not shown) which has apertures (33, 34) for receiving the feet 28, 29 and six conductive strips (17) for contacting the contact parts, the surfaces 30, 32 engaging the underside of the board with the detents 27 engaging ends of the apertures (34) to latch the connector in position. Apertures (33) are larger than apertures (34), the latter being too small to receive the larger feet 28, thus ensuring correct polarization.
