Abstract

129,680. Yorke, J. P. Nov. 23, 1917. Arc lamps.-An arc-centring device for a projection or other lamp comprises four or more conductors N arranged about the arc and parallel to its desired direction, and connected so as to form two or more conductive loops. As shown, the device consists of two U-shaped bars, attached to a metal frame M of rhombus form. Thus, two inclined fields are produced. Two adjacent ends of the bars are insulated from the frame and are attached to conductors connected them in series with the arc. The frame M is attached to, but insulated from, a double telescopic post F on a base which can be slid laterally with regard to the electrodes by means of a screw D and contains a gear-wheel splined to a shaft E and driving a screw effecting vertical adjustment of the upper part of the post and the frame. Handles are connected to the screw and shaft by universal couplings D<1>, E<1>.
