1295933 Dehydrogenating paraffins PHILLIPS PETROLEUM CO 27 May 1970 [28 May 1969] 25394/70 Heading C5E [Also in Division B1] Hydrocarbons are dehydrogenated over catalysts comprising zinc oxide or a Group II metal aluminate spinel, nickel, or a platinum group metal, and Ge, Sn or Pb. Examples describe the dehydrogenation of (I) n-heptane over ZnAl 2 O 4 + Pt + Sn + Ba, (II) n-butane over ZnAl 2 O 4 + Pt + Sn + Li, (III) n-butane over ZnAl 2 O 4 + Pt + Sn, (IV) n-butane over ZnO + Pt+Sn, and (V) 2,3-dimethylbutane or 3- methylhexane over ZnAl 2 O 4 + Pt + Sn + Bu.
