Abstract

1319373 Disproportionating saturated hydrocarbons CHEVRON RESEARCH CO 15 Jan 1971 [16 Jan 1970] 2191/71 Heading C5E Saturated hydrocarbons are disproportionated in the presence of a catalytic mass comprising a group VIb component and a group VIII component, the olefin concentration in the disproportionation zone being maintained at not more than 5 wt. per cent. A preferred catalyst comprises Pt and an alkali metal on Al 2 O 3 admixed with tungsten oxide on SiO 2 particles. The feedstock is preferably propane, n-butane or n-pentane but the disproportionation of alkyl aromatics to products having alkyl groups of different size is included.
