1295520 Feeding sheets WINDMOLLER & HOLSCHER 18 Feb 1970 [27 Feb 1969 23 Jan 1970] 7831/70 Heading B8R The depleted pile in the magazine 4 of a separator is replenished by a device comprising a roller conveyer 7 which receives piles of sheets from a further conveyer (not shown), a transfer rake having a series of rods 14 which is arranged to transfer a pile from the conveyer 7 to a position above the magazine and a stripper 37 arranged to cause the transferred pile to be dropped on the depleted pile as the rake returns to its initial position. The roller conveyer is arranged to be lowered such that a pile carried thereon is transferred to the rods 14 which are initially positioned between but below the level of the rollers of the conveyer. The rake is arranged to be moved in guide channels 2 to a position above the magazine 4 where the rear edge of a pile carried thereby is engaged by the dependent fingers 37 of the stripper, which hold back the pile as the rake returns to its initial position. Separators.-Sheets (e.g. tube sections intended for use in a bag-making machine) are separated from the bottom of the pile by rotating suction rollers 51, Fig. 4, carried in a rotating frame. The new pile is pressed into engagement with the depleted pile by rods 61. A photo-electric device 44 senses the level of the pile during separation and actuates the rake when depletion has reached a predetermined level.
