Abstract
1295096 Indexing PRECISION GEAR MACHINES & TOOLS Ltd 26 Feb 1970 [3 March 1969] 11213/69 Heading B3B [Also in Division F2] In an indexing mechanism, a fluid pressure operated piston and cylinder device 16 reciprocates a pin 13 in linear guide slots 14 of a housing 1, the pin 13 engaging a zig-zag cam track 9 (Fig. 3) of a rotatable cam 10 carrying an index member 2. The cam 10 is supported on a spindle 3 by bearings 4, 5. The indexing extremities 22, 24 of the cam track 9 may be deepened, as at 30, to improve location of the cam 10 at each index station. The head 17 carrying the pin 13 co-operates with limit switches (33, 34) (Fig. 2, not shown), to reverse fluid supply to the device 16 at the ends of its stroke. In a modification, the cam track is formed in the end face of the cam 10 and the pin 13 reciprocates radially at the cam.
