Abstract

1293640 Photographic 5-pyrazolone colour couplers EASTMAN KODAK CO 26 March 1970 [2 April 1969 9 Feb 1970] 14871/70 Heading G2C [Also in Division C2] Light-sensitive silver halide emulsions contain as colour couplers 5-pyrazolones substituted in the 3-position by an amino group which is the residue of a primary amine or of a secondary amine in which the N atom is in a saturated ring having no more than 6 ring atoms. (See Division C2 for preparation of said colour couplers). Particularly useful colour couplers are 5- pyrazolones substituted in the 4-position by an organic thio group such as a 1-phenyl-5- tetrazolylthio group, a 2-benzothiazolyl-thio group, a 5-phenyl-1,3,4-oxadiazolyl-2-thio group or a 2-benzimidazolylthio group. Amongst colour couplers incorporated into photographic materials are 3-indalino-1-phenyl-5-pyrazolone, 3-morphidine-1-phenyl-5-pyrazolone, 1-(2,4,6- trichlorophenyl)-3- {3-[α-(2, 4-di-tertamylphenoxy)-acetamido] -benzamido}-5- pyrazolone. The coupler may be a development inhibitor releasing (DIR) coupler. Examples 42-46 relate to photographic materials and processing.
