Abstract

1293527 Potato mixtures ERIN FOODS Ltd and J BIBBY & SONS Ltd 19 April 1971 [19 Jan 1970 (2)] 2413/70 and 2414/70 Heading A2B A process of producing an intimate mixture of potato flakes, edible fat and edible powder and comprises mixing dehydrated potato flakes with edible fat in fluid form whereby the flakes are coated with the fat and then mixing the coated flakes with the edible powder to cause the powder to adhere to the coated flakes. The mixture may comprise butter with antioxidant, milk powder (e.g. skimmed milk), salt, and flavourings. The mixture formed may be subsequently mixed with a further quantity of potato flakes. The process may be a batch or continuous process in which the fat is poured or sprayed onto the flakes which are being agitated in a machine, e.g. having a continuous spiral vane or a plurality of interrupted spiral vanes on a shaft rotating preferably at less than 100 r.p.m.
