Abstract

1293097 Transistor switching circuits WESTINGHOUSE ELECTRIC CORP 19 April 1971 [24 Feb 1970] 23210/71 Heading H3T [Also in Division H2] A control signal for a gate, e.g. analogue switch #1, is produced by feeding a repetitive signal 7 and a function signal 8 to a comparator 3 to produce a width modulated pulse train which applied to the control electrode of the gate. The arrangement gives a slow turn-on or turn-off depending on whether the function signal 8 is a rising or falling ramp. If the comparator output is fed directly to control analogue switch #1, and via a NOT circuit 10 to control analogue switch #2, a slow fade-over from one circuit to another may be obtained. The system may be used in a lift control system in which three different signals are required to control the movement of the lift between floors. Initially unit 27 produces a " 1 " on line LAND and analogue switch #1 is closed. In this condition the motor is controlled by a signal from time ramp generator 28. During the next phase of operation it is required to charge to control from generator 26, and ramp 8 is initiated to open analogue switch #1 and close analogue switch #2, the summed outputs from the two gates changing gradually. During this phase the output from unit 27 changes to a " 1 " on line LAND to enable AND gate 32 and inhibit AND gate 31. In this condition analogue switch #2 is held open by the output from comparator 3<SP>1</SP>. To change to the next phase, generator 8<SP>1</SP> initiates a ramp which opens analogue switch #2 and closes analogue switch #3 to utilize the control signal from a sensor 29.
