Abstract

1292582 Electric torch BRAUN AG 12 Jan 1970 [14 Jan 1969] 1381/70 Heading F4R A disc shaped battery torch has a reflector 22 which comprises a plurality of effectively reflecting areas 23, 24, of differing focal length but common focal point, the reflecting areas being parabolic mirrors separated by plane non- reflecting areas 26, 27 arranged at such an angle that they receive no light from the bulb 5 which is situated at the focus of the parabolic mirrors, and additional reflectors 30 on the dish shaped cover glass 4 having the same focal point as the parabolic mirrors. These additional reflectors may be annular prisms. The parabolic mirrors may have various other configurations than annular strips, such as parallel extending strips of parabolic mirror, Fig. 4, not shown, or segmental areas, Fig. 5, not shown. In another embodiment the additional reflectors are annular and carried on arms, Figs. 10, 11 not shown, this arrangement being fitted between the parabolic mirrors and the cover glass. The casing may also be rectangular in plan with segmental parabolic mirrors. In a further embodiment, Fig. 9, not shown, the torch has batteries rechargeable by means of solar cells positioned at the non- reflecting plane areas of the reflector 22.
